Gemini Flash Mailers-
By far the easiest and best way to ship your comics when sold. If you buy them in bulk (at least 50-150) you can get them for about .40-.50cents a piece. Which may seem like alot, but in the scheme of things, they are not. They will save you from SOOO many headaches and hassles. Damage and returns for one.
Plus, no other packing materials are really needed, so they are quick and easy to pack and ship. You can get them off their site and even off eBay and Amazon, by searching for “Gemini Comic Mailers”.Sometimes you can find cheaper equivalents. But Gemini are the best bang for your buck, by far. There are alot of buyers who will ask for them, and even not buy from sellers, if they dont ship in Gemini Comic Flash Mailers (or equivalent).
So it can literally save you hundreds, if not thousands, a year, if not a month. And bring you in a TON of more sales. I always look to see if someone’s listing states they ship in Gemini mailers. Especially on Mercari & EBay (as on most of the other platforms, it’s kind of a given).
Midtown Comics Supplies:
https://www.midtowncomics.com/search?cat=Supplies&scat=Comic+Book+Supplies
Some of the best comic book supplies at competitive prices. At least the bags and boards.
MY Fave Bags- https://www.midtowncomics.com/product/11031
&
Boards- https://www.midtowncomics.com/product/11032 for the best quality, at cheapest price.
Regular long boxes are fine for starting and can be obtained for cheap to free from most local shops or if you want something decent that’s easy to access I recommend using BCW brand filing cabinet/slide out drawer short boxes as they can be stacked on top of each other and easy access. Store brands are fine too, I prefer BCW brand for short/long boxes tho...
You can go with crazy high quality acid free boards and even long boxes, Mylar and thick mil bags/top loaders but it’s usually not worth it. Especially if you have a revolving door rotation of inventory.
To me, for the price of $10 for 100 Resealable Bags and $10 for 100 acid free boards, $20 for 100 bags and boards, resealable and high quality, is a great deal. Midtown at the link above.
Fancy thick 4 mil Mylar and big crazy thick expensive boards and storage boxes are not necessary for collecting and holding for a long time, let alone flipping them and not having them very long. So no point in spending hundreds uselessly.
Plus resealable bags eliminate the headache of using scotch tape and fumbling with Polybags and ripping them every time you open and close a bag.
My Fave for Cheap and Easy Long Boxes- https://www.midtowncomics.com/product/29641
Or Short Boxes-
https://www.midtowncomics.com/product/29642
Which are half to 1/3rd the Price of others.
Which you may want to Invest in eventually. Especially BCW and even more so for CGC containers.
BCW makes a filing Cabinet box to slide the short boxes into. So you can stack multiple boxes ontop of each other, but save room as you can just slide them in and out. Instead of moving them around to take off the lids and access them from the top
Apps:
Marvel Unlimited
Great App for anyone tempted to read their books without the possibility of damage or paying extra for “reader copies” of books/variants.
cheap holiday sale as well! (DC also has DCU, I hear Darkhorse has one and ComiXology is a great app with another Netflix style service for indies/non-marvel and DC publishers.)
Key Collector
App Store
By far, the best App for compiled news and info./spec/rumors On hot keys blowing up, tons of constant updates and instant ALERTS daily, on every facet of comics investment tips/news. Only $1.99 a month and extremely useful for what’s blowing up when and why.
CLZ Comics Collection Tracker
WHERE: App Store (type in CLZ Comics)
PRICE: $1.49 a month or $14.99 a year
INFO:
A New tool I’ve been using for a few weeks now, that is similar to the iCollect App, but for comics, is CLZ Comics
It’s MUCH faster than covrprice and it is synced with GoCollect.
It also has a built-in barcode scanner, which is a LIFE SAVER. So you can literally scan a number of books in a few seconds to your collection tracker.
I highly recommend it, but ONLY if you have a lot of books for the hold/Large collection, with a lot of books coming in and going out.
Then go in and select what variant covers you have of that issue manually if want, if you don’t want to scan those as well
It has a plethora of options.
You can separate multiple collections. Say, just a star wars section.
And have them synced to the cloud and shared between devices as well.
No inputting names and looking for specific covers, scouring etc. (although you CAN input manually if you desire) can get away without even typing. Just scanning barcodes
And since it’s connected with Go Collect site, the database is super current. Of course, a few issues where the barcode is on the back you will have to take out of the bag and board for a second.
Or older books that don’t have barcodes (or certain variants)Maybe the occasional unrecognized barcode, but that’s it.
There’s also tons of tools like charts and statistics, syncing your entire collection to the cloud to share as well, as well as current up to the minute pricing and changes, ratings, Data Charts, Changing the field defaults for search and collections and tons of customized thresholds.
But it makes keeping track of everything insanely easier and SO much faster.
It is not as slow or cumbersome as covrprice and a lot more customizable than most other sites or apps. And directly connected to one of the largest Comic Databases (GoCollect) and you can scan a good 30-50+ books in 1 minute.
Covrprice.com (first “e” is purposely omitted) is by far the best collection tracker and one of the top sales trackers. https://covrprice.com/
You can add all your books and set thresholds for alerts, so that when something hits or changes price, you can adjust your “sitting listings” (or list holds)accordingly. Without having a $30 book that just shot up to $150 (for example) slip through the cracks to the vultures quickly picking bones.
There’s 3 different tiers of membership ranging from free to $6.99 a month (VIP) which is totally worth it.
Also, if there happens to be a variant that isn’t listed under a new book, if you notify them of the cover they will add its info. And pics etc. the full listing to their database. Fast too. Usually within a day or two

Covrprice is (was) one of the BEST collection trackers. But now, I believe it is CLZ. Which has just come on the scene with Full release, Summer 2021. But both You can put all your books in and know when something goes up or down and when to list something or take it off, adjust price for sitters accordingly etc.
A good sub video from the guys at tales from the flipside, sometimes the info. Can be a little sketchy, but it’s decent for leaks and big stuff.
I’d subscribe to their channel too...
Make sure any store that has exclusives you not only sign up for their newsletter but follow them on IG,Twitter and especially Facebook.
A lot of shops (Frankie’s,scorpion etc.) also have private groups you can join that have special sales and even variant covers only offered to their private FB groups. As much as I despise “the book” it’s a necessity that should be checked constantly. I’d follow/join every comic shop group/page you can. Even random ones can do a sick release, even if it’s only once or twice a year...
Key Collector does have a great collection tracker. It is overall a decent app to have for checking nothing but books deemed as “Keys”.
Can be good for news, but 9 times out of 10, their news is already long out, widespread, and already affected the market. But the top 10 comic site links and other comic news site links will help to keep you ontop of breaking news.

Key Terms
Many of you asked me for these, more explanations and guides to come.
CGC-Comics grading company. Where the books are submitted to be graded and “slabbed” (encased) and given a number.
-SS or yellow label is a signature series and is a SIGNED and graded comic from CGC, only obtainable with a CGC witness.
Here’s the scale(applies to “ungraded” or raw conditions as well)
https://www.cgccomics.com/grading/grading-scale/
Grading tutorialhttps://comics.ha.com/tutorial/comics-grading.s?show=comicdefinitions
The grading scale and How to apply it-https://artfulinvestments.com/comic-book-grading/
And a useful easier explanation of it allhttps://www.mycomicshop.com/help/grading
Do NOT let it all overwhelm you.
Merely some knowledge guides.
None of this you need to even know.
We buy pre graded and hardly ever submit ourselves unless one wants to on certain crazy hot keys.
But even then this is usually unnecessary. So do not worry. It’s merely so you know what things mean and understand (mostly for listing and description purposes).
A majority of CGC books can be bought pre-graded. This is usually the best route with newer books. Especially with COVID as conventions and store signings are not really a thing except for private store signings which are not free like cons.
There are other grading companies to submit to. The bigger two besides CGC are PGX and CBCS. While they are usually faster and cheaper and may garner a higher grading, they will not sell as well as CGC.
Usually their routes are only taken when a book is already signed, as they offer signature verification services as they have a database of sigs where they can officially authenticate a pre-signed book. CGC requires a CGC witness to qualify for yellow label SS. Otherwise it will get a green label and no one will buy it.
More Key Terms
Just DM me if you have any other further questions or any suggestions as far as additions to this list!
Virgin variant-No font, no stamps or barcodes or writing (at most artists signature on art). Purely art, “untouched”, hence the “virgin” title.
Minimal Trade Dress- usually Only DC comics does these. They are not super common. Usually, No title or issue number, only their company logo. And if so, it’s small along the spine.
Trade Dress (TD)-most common. Anything with “font”, barcodes, titles, logos etc. Anything that is not a virgin, whether It’s a variant or not.
PTG-Printing/Print (mainly 1st Ptgs are best for quickflips and subsequent printings are much better on the hold due to their low print runs and usually surpass 1st print/any early subsequent ptgs.
Ratio/“Retailer Incentive”- both mean the exact same thing. It is an incentive variant cover, given when stores order “so many copies” of a book's regular/retail(cover price) variant cover.
OOS-out of stock
Subsequent Ptg- Any printing beyond 1st, so 2nd,3rd,4th and so on..
CGC/Graded- Comics Grading Company orAny “Slabbed” or graded and encased books. Similar to “PSA” with cards. CBCS and PGX are also other grading companies besides CGC.
1:10, 1:25, 1:50, 1:100 etc,- Represents the Ratio/Retailer incentive numbers. Expressed 1 in 25 or 1 in 50. 1 ratio cover for every 25 copies or 50 to match the respective corresponding # Ratio price is $1 per. So 1:25 is typically $25 standard, on average but can fluctuate from place to place and on how hot the title is. But some sites do a base price for all books, regardless of hype. Those are the ones we usually use.
Store Exclusive- Only available at that Specific Store or its Sister stores
KEY- A “Key” issue, is a book deemed a “KEY”(Similar to a “Grail” in shoes or hypebeast gear) it is a sought after and important book. Usually for a number of singular or combined factors. Such as a 1st Appearance, Big Identity or other reveal, Event, Origin, Death, something important making it a “need to have” for collectors. Especially when relating to popular characters and/or Live Action/Animation.
CBCS & PGX- Both other grading companies, and competitors to CGC.
FOC- Final Order Cutoff. The last day stores can increase or decrease their orders for a book. Usually FOC is 1 month before the book is physically released. Books can go OOS for good after FOC. So by the time they are released, they are already taxed.
Some could even get a 2nd or 3rd subsequent printing still in pre-orders, if its after FOC. This is why, if we know a book is going to potentially be hot, we get in on it before FOC.
Plus, they are cheaper by 40-75% before FOC.
FOC is usually on every Monday at 3/3:30 am EST(Late Sunday night, but technically “Monday morning”)
It is also the last time you can remove a book on your list before it locks on sites like tfaw, Unknown Comics, Midtown Comics, Westfield Comics, ComicXposure, DF etc.
Tfaw is the best site with the biggest discounts anywhere for FOC. Why it is usual my default. But you can use anywhere you want. Just be warned, Tfaw is pretty much the only site that does not charge you payment until an order ships. On anything. Preorders dropping in 3 months or Even pre-orders dropping next day. Which no other shops do. And certainly not with such ease as well. Or discounts. Pre FOC you can sometimes save 75% off of ratios and at least 25-40%+ off retails/retail variants.
WHERE TO SELL
DO NOT limit yourself solely to eBay (or any ONE platform) ever.
eBay is great for International Shipping with their Global Shipping program. It’s Also great for extra Niche/obscure titles & items. But make sure to spread out.
List on eBay, Mercari, Amazon if you can, Hipcomic.com (essentially eBay for comics),FB Marketplace(shipping, but if you live in a large area with heavy Comic presence, could maybe manage local too), FB comic Auction groups, StockX (which now has CGC and Key issues), even Etsy people sell tons of comics.
Hell, people list Comics on Wish now. Which is total trash, BUT they have the right idea.
The more irons in the fire, the more numbers covered on a roulette wheel, the better. I find clients on Reddit, CGC and Comic Forums and message Boards, FB groups (just random Creator and specific Series Comic Groups as well) granted, you can't spam on there, or broadcast selling.
But when you cop a hot book, and people cry about not getting it, or speak on how “sick it is” I just say things like “Oh thats a Fire cover i managed to get one OMG i love “insert creator name here”, and get tens of DM’s begging to buy my copy. Idc if you're flipping them off your sister's Shopify Jewelry site.
IF You keep yourself solely to one platform, whichever it is, and you're leaving tons of potential sales, and sometimes even more money for a given item, on the table.
SHOPS
TFAW- Tfaw (things from another world) is definitely my top 3 currently for cop sites. Mainly because they carry all retail releases and are usually the cheapest priced.
They are also the easiest and you can just add multiple things to your lists.
Sometimes too easy. So be careful to not rack up $800+ shipments every week like myself. But That's mostly attributed to Ratios. Which easily makes back x2-x5+ on the quick. As a group gets more used to things, I will ping more ratios for hot titles. They can go in seconds though, with little time for info. And details beyond an assigned RISK.
Which is another reason, as Tfaw is the only site that has a base price for ratios (always below the 1=$1, traditionally 1:25= $25,1:50=$50) but most sites tax much more than that, especially on HOT or even just potentially hot books.
Whereas TFAW does not discriminate or raise the price. Very common to grab a 1:25 that will/can/does hit $200 or higher for $15-$20.
Even with the regular retail covers, sites like Golden Apple and Unknown or SSCO etc. will jack hot retail books up to $10,$20 even $30+ each right away. Where tfaw will keep them at $2-$3. As they should.
They also will ship to the same address as long as you have multiple accounts on Limit Per Household Books, whether it be limit 5 or Limit 1.
SHOP RATING:4.5/5
MIDTOWN COMICS-
https://www.midtowncomics.com/?plid=2
But I do like using MIdtown, as they keep extensive Back issues and also don't usually tax very high on HOT retails or Ratios (but can slightly, but not much compared to most sites, except Tfaw). And they have Big Sales on said back issues often.
Also, IF tfaw is OOS, its definitely one of my many go to shops.
SHOP RATING:4/5
Unknown COMICS -
https://unknowncomicbooks.com/
I would use the App. if you D/L the App, they usually load things on there before the site. And can have App exclusives like sales and even covers/Variants specific to the APP.
Unknown CAN Be reasonable and decent, especially on ratios. Plus they have Insane sales sometimes where you can save hundreds on older variants and make a killing off resale while stocking up on a varied inventory with tons of draw to bring the customers in.
With huge sales on their Store Exclusive covers (which can sometimes be good cops, just they rarely release print count and most unless they go OOS fast turn into holds) and even sometimes buy 2 get 1 free or even buy 2 get 2 free on Ratios, as well as store exclusives.
SHOP RATING:3.5/5
Golden Apple-
https://goldenapplecomics.com/
Can be extremely shady. They tax a book the second it shows signs of hitting. But , you can sometimes can in on them for coverprice and they will usually ship and not cancel. And most of the time, they are the only place left with a recent hitter, if you don't mind possibly paying a tax… So I only order from them when I have to, or it's lucrative (rarely) to grab from them.
They also buy store exclusives out and resell them. Check prices as sometimes you can get them for the same MSRP when the main sites are OOS. But check prices and be careful with GA…
SHOP RATING:2.5/5
Frankie’s Comics-
https://frankiescomics.com/
Has a decent selection of exclusives, sometimes. They also can have some OOS and HTF retail issues/covers, at times. The main positive with them is, anything over $15 is FREE SHIPPING, if you have the code from joining their Private FB group then messaging them on their site. So do that just in case. It can mean a lot more money return wise, not having to pay anything for shipping.
SHOP RATING:3.5/5
Comics Elite-
https://comicselitecomics.com/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwxJqHBhC4ARIsAChq4auaK3Hn6nv5MNPjCIuZYQMRM4PSogdCW_SEMATn1tEhM8wtiZ8nZ_IaAlUqEALw_wcB
Comics Elite can be good sometimes to find Retail releases OOS most places, and they have decent exclusives themselves every once in a while. They also have a points system with FREE rewards like FREE slabs (CBCS tho) and drawings, mystery grabs etc. For frequent buyers with enough points accumulated. Also been fairly backed up, so orders can be delayed at times…
SHOP RATING:3/5
Westfield Comics-
https://westfieldcomics.com/
Can be good to order from but are known for cancelling recently on HOT books if you're not a frequent buyer. So make sure to grab off other sites as a backup if you can, otherwise there's a chance of cancellation. But better than no chance.
SHOP RATING:3/5
Third Eye Comics-
https://thirdeyecomics.com/
Another GREAT backup site. With great exclusives sometimes. And definitely one of the best customer service and store policies of any shop around.
SHOP RATING:4.5/5
SSCO-
https://sanctumsanctorumcomics.com/
Sometimes they have great store exclusives that go for a lot (SHadecraft, DoT, Wynd, SiKtC, Stray Dogs etc.) but the second that title hits in general they will jack up their store exclusives. So be careful, they do this with retail covers too. And offer no discount before FOC on retails either, hot yet or not. Plus their shipping is always crazy high , so I only order from them when I must.
The one benefit is if you add the FREE mystery book package to every order you get free books. When forced to order from them, it lessens the blow a bit.
SHOP RATING:3/5
Legacy Comics-
https://legacycomics.com/
A smaller Shop out of Cali. But really good. They have decent exclusives sometimes, but they are OFTEN one of, if not usually THE cheapest store for Ratios. Sometimes absurdly cheaper than everywhere else.
SHOP RATING:4/5
Jetpack Comics-
https://jetpackcomics.com/
Sometimes have their own exclusives, used to be better, Focus on too many other items like cards and figures now. Still a viable cop and have not seen them cancel orders on “Hot” books. But also not always having even simpler books in stock.
SHOP RATING: 2.5/5
BTC (Big Time Collectibles)-
https://bigtimecollectibles.com/
This Store is a hard one, as they sometimes do have good Quickflip store Exclusives. And even cheap prices on “HOT” retail comics bundles and good deals (especially their private group). And they can have a lot of hotter books in stock for retail or less, when others are OOS. However, they have trash customer service. I know of 15+ ppl who had damage and they refuse to replace or refund and usually wont even respond. I RARELY recommend them, unless i Absolutely have to.
As anything you order from them, is a gamble, because if anything happens to it, you are on your own. And that can totally eat into profits, especially when dealing with orders in the hundreds $$
SHOP RATING:1/5 (BEWARE)
SELLING
Updates imminent.
See the above “WHERE TO SELL SECTION” and other above links and tools for now…
Again, make sure you are utilizing ALL platforms.
eBay is great for all KEY books and variants, obscure indies, rarities and vast lanes such as signed and remarked, OA, bound & Collected/Library/Museum and special edition Hardcovers, Comic Sketch Cards etc.
Especially for international shipping via eBay’s Global Shipping Program. Which I highly advise you utilize. Plus the discounts on bottom line and on things like shipping mats etc. Afforded with an eBay store, can make your ROI percentages even higher.
I have sold on eBay for over 2 decades so I will be updating a section below with tips & tricks to make your listings tabs out and sell over the next person.
BUT DO NOT BOX YOURSELF IN to any single resale platform.
Read the above “Where to Sell” section.
Mercari is a HUB for flipping comics. Sometimes they can take longer, but usually they fly. And you can sometimes get even more than other markets.
Huge shops like Lost Planet, Midtown, Third eye etc. Have big presence on Mercari. Most of my members make AT LEAST $2k a month in sales on Mercari. Especially once your established. I suggest having more than one account…
Recently they raised fees in Oct. of 2020 and added another small fee. Turning some sellers off. A few weeks ago they added a tier incentive selling system.
Meaning, the more you sell initially, the more that account’s fees percentages is lowered. As low as 7-8% in fees total. Coupled with huge promotions, free $ credit towards buying, discounted shipping and a slew of other incentives/Offers, can end up being the most lucrative option for ROI if you work it correctly. And take your time. Again, I have a gaggle of members making hundreds a week, sometimes a day (Myself included) off Mercari solely off the calls alone.
The ability to make offers, set and change discounts, pricing, sales etc. On a whim can be useful tools on this platform as well.
Hipcomic.com is great for Any soldout key issues, from lunch money new retail releases, to Old silver Age Keys. They also have a number of integrations with other selling platforms to import your listings right over! Plus they go fast (especially newer hyped items recently OOS everywhere and big Grail keys that are HOT on all the news sites and top 10 comic lists (which my picks usually end up making, AFTER I call them).
Amazon is one of the top places to flip rare and obscure books, variants, ratios etc.
I know a number of people doing it. But not many. And they are pretty much the only ones except for a few stores.
StockX- Currently only taking Slabs, I have seen A number of graded slabs, of some not so great, lowkey Keys, sell on StockX for x3-x5 of other platforms. NOT of their buy-in, but of the going rate on other resale sites.
FB Marketplace- Surpsingly fast moving for shipping sales. Depending on your local climate, local can be easily viable as well. Plus they constantly run Free shipping and the small portion they take is nothing compared to other Platforms.
FB Comic Auction groups- I watch hundreds of these claim, Live Sale and other type of auctions going off daily, if not hourly. Definitely can get a lot more than going rate on these too. Plus easier and faster to list as you don’t need to sell your items much, as the people going for them know what they are going for and most are in desperate need.
Other Re-Selling Sites, Apps & Platforms-
There are so many more popping up daily. Some I am not familiar with
IN-STORE COPS
LCBS cops can be some of the easiest and most lucrative.
But it can vary from store to store.
I HIGHLY rec using the comic shop locator site or App (links in this Doc) to find all your shops within a comfortable range.
Go to a few when your able to do so. At least to check them out and get a feel for things.
Be careful what you divulge to any shop owners though. Make sure you play coy and stupid, if not with the comics in general, at least with anything to do with spec and investment, let alone resale, online, what your privy to with my inside gold etc.
I’ve had shop owners offer me jobs and others that have thrown me out and banned me lol. Others that would write down what I buy, and the second I leave pull every issue left off the floor. So be cautious to what info. You give up.
But some shops can be cool.
I don’t recommend signing up for any type of pull lists though, as you’ll never get a discount. At most 10-15% off MAX.
Along with paying retail (or close enough that it’s still overpriced) Quality on them will most likely not be grade worthy either. But that’s for newer books. Sometimes there’s no choice.
Retail New Release Cops
If you passed on FOC, or something got away from you. or even in the instance were info. didn’t come about a Key issue or happening until just before or even after release, causing the issue to moon and go OOS everywhere instantly, it’s possible you won’t be able to grab it anywhere for retail when it drops EXCEPT at an LCBS. Can be the best place to acquire such exceptions. Just watch for limits, or the worst, charging above retail and pricing books based off going rate/recent solds.
Backissues/Discounted Books & Variants
As far as backissues, with a little bit of luck, knowledge, a good eye and the right shop, you could make thousands. Even tens of thousands, off only $100-$200 sometimes.
But backissue hunting can be fickle and extremely advanced.
Best thing you can do is call(or go to your shop/s and look for) backissues, but more importantly, discount bins, and the more coveted-discount variant bins. I and many others, have gotten insane books of value from these types of bins. But not all shops have a discount bin/s, let alone discount variant bin. But the ones that do, are usually cheap($1-$3) and can include ratios, exclsuives, subsequent printings and other low print run and highly sought after rarities.
CGC SUBMISSION
Not yet recommended for anything remotely close to peak (or peaking anytime in the next 4-6 months) as you will miss your window. Only good for VERY long holds (6+Months)
Current Turnaround times are still abysmal.
If shipped in early Sept. you would be lucky to receive back by Feb. right now with the current backlog delays. Even with paying extra for fast track.
Can be a way to turn a $50 raw book you laid $2 for, turn into a $350+ book with a total investment of $20/$30.
While definitely worth it to grade, something I would hold off on for now. Unless it’s something with an open window and something you can wait on.
I will update this section soon, as there are exceptions even now. Plus since CGC just got bought out by 51% by the investment firm Blackstone, turnaround times are just around the corner from improving exponentially so. As they have been injecting mass amounts of capital into new hires and training. Even promoted the lead grader to President last week.
I would say by late Oct. the turnaround times should improve to a degree where submission can be justified again. At least on newer books/ones with a shorter window than that of the investment flips.
Plus you should be familiar with the different tiers and grading scales and types of slab Labels, options and available extras like pressing & cleaning, pre-screening, fast track, biz membership tiers, bulk submissions, SS yellow labels etc.
